Meeting More Family!

Yesterday after church we went to my parents' for dinner so that Henry could meet his Great Grandma Plaisier and Great Grandpa Bill.
Henry and Grandma Debbie- if she is in the same room as him, she is usually holding him :)

Four generations- Great Grandma Plaisier, Mommy, Henry, and Papa Plaisier

Tommy declared he would only have his picture taken upside down. As you can imagine we captured several pictures worthy of framing this way :)

Halloween Cookies

This afternoon some of the boys' cousins came over to make and decorate Halloween cookies. We had fun!

Good thing Madelyn is so patient- she had to give Tommy lots of help!

Some of the finished product.
Henry loves to people watch- he wanted to see all of the commotion in the kitchen!

One Month Old

Henry Christopher- One month old
This past month has gone by in a quick blur of diaper changes, middle of the night feedings, tears, and joy. On one hand, I can't believe he's been here a month already, but on the other hand, I can't really remember life without him.

We've started to get into a new routine and adjust to our new family member. He has brought us so much happiness in one short month!

What is Henry up to at one month?
  • He eats every 2 1/2- 3 hours during the day and does one long stretch during the night- usually it's 4 hours, but it has been as long as 6.
  • He goes to bed around 10pm and sleeps until about 8am (waking up to eat about twice).
  • He is wearing size 1 diapers and mostly size 0-3 month clothes. Most of the newborn size has been packed away already.
  • He LOVES to look around and has a hard time falling asleep if you are looking at him. He is extremely alert and seems to know what's going on around him.
  • He is a happy baby, only crying when he's hungry or extremely over-tired.
  • He is a little fussy and just wants to be held from about 5:30pm-7:30pm (right when we are trying to get big brother to bed!)
  • He really enjoys his baths.
  • He is a very noisy sleeper- he grunts and moans for awhile while falling asleep and frequently makes noise while sleeping.
  • He is starting to reach for the toys on the bouncy seat and activity gym.
  • He tries to suck his thumb or fingers, but isn't quite coordinated enough to do it yet!

New Favorite Thing

Yesterday I purchased the Fisher Price Happy Giraffe bouncy seat as an extra for the basement. I just grabbed one of the cheapest ones Babies r Us had on the shelf since I didn't plan on using it much, but wanted something for when Tommy and I hang out in the basement. Henry LOVES the seat. He has liked all of the other seats and activity gym we have, but would fuss after a few minutes and need to be moved or held. He is so intrigued by this seat and has slept in it for a fairly long nap yesterday an again today. Tommy loves to pull the toys to make it make music and Henry's eyes light up when Tommy does that for him. It was definitely a great investment for our house!

I'm so sad that this outfit fits Henry only because it was SO big on him the day after we got home from the hospital. I tried it on him again this morning and while it is still big, it is a much better fit than it was 3 1/2 weeks ago.

Our Life Lately...

I've been bad about posting recent pictures of Henry- I guess it's true when they say that there are less pictures of the second child. Life just sort of gets in the way :) Anyway, here are a couple of randoms from the past little while.
At night, while Nathan and I relax and watch TV before bed, Henry loves to lay in his Boppy pillow on the couch next to me and usually falls sound asleep before his last feeding of the evening.

Out of desperation last night I tried swaddling Henry which hasn't worked in the past (it just made him mad!), but always worked wonders for Tommy. It worked well last night and has been working great for naps today too. Looks like we have another swaddle baby!

There is something just so cute about a little bundle all wrapped up tight :)

Just for fun- my big preschooler- watching a movie and sucking his thumb.
