More Tricks

Henry is developing new abilities almost daily this week it seems.  He keeps getting better and stronger and he is pretty proud of himself!

Yesterday afternoon Henry pulled to his knees for the first time!  He stayed like that for about 2-3 mintues before he fell back onto his bottom.

I put Henry to bed tonight and went to check on him about 15 mintues later.  This is what I found- the poor baby had actually fallen asleep sitting up!

Swimming!

We have been swimming almost daily this summer and having such a great time!  Tommy LOVES the water and is a little fish.  He especially likes swimming with daddy at night before bed.  He is getting stronger and stronger in the water and it's been fun to watch!  Now he just needs to learn to put his head under :)

New Tricks

Henry has learned how to get into a sitting position on his own now- watch out world!  He has been so funny the past two days in his bed- I lay him down and he instantly pops back up.  He thinks that he is such hot stuff and it is adorable to watch.  He didn't nap more than 30 minutes yesterday and I am pretty sure that the past 2 nights he has fallen asleep sitting up and then toppled over while sleeping.  Hopefully the novelty wears off soon and he's back to his good sleeping habits again!

Henry loves to sit at the end of his crib and peer through the slats, out the door, and down the stairs.  We find him here whenever he is awake in  his bed!

Silly baby!

Nine Months Old!!

Henry Christopher- 9 Months Old

Henry truly is such a happy baby- his giggles and squeals are some of the best noises!  He loves to show off all of his "tricks"- waving, clapping, and so big.  He refuses to miss any potential action and will not nap in the car or anytime we are out of the house.  As happy as he is- he has some strong opinions on what activities he would like to be doing and what foods he would like to be eating and is pretty good at letting us know how he feels about things.  He loves nothing more than to have a full tummy and be sitting on the floor with a pile of rattles and toys.  He also loves his bath and splashing in the pool.  He brings such joy to us each and every day and we are having so much fun discovering his personality!

At nine months Henry weights 21 lbs, 0 oz (50%) and is 28" long (50%).  His head is 18" (75%).  At the same age, Tommy was 24 lbs, 4 oz (95%) and 29 1/2" long (75%).  Tommy's head was also 18".

What is Henry up to at 9 months?
  • He sleeps from 7pm- 7:30am every night.  No fussing to fall asleep at all and not a peep out of him all night!
  • He drinks about 24 oz of formula a day and eats 3 meals of baby food.  Each meal is usually a bowl of cereal and a container of baby food or two containers of baby food.
  • He's still eating stage 2 baby foods, but I've been mixing the cereal much thicker and some of the food that I puree myself for him is much chunkier.  He loves to eat puffs, yogurt melts, and cheerios by himself.
  • He typically naps from 9:30am- 11am and then again from 1:30pm- 3:30pm.
  • He is in size 3 diapers (mostly to use up the rest of the package- he could move to 4's) and size 12-18 month clothing.
  • He rolls and sits and is trying to scoot and pull up (and actually has crawled now at 9 months, 3 days!)
  • He claps, waves, and does so big!  He is so proud of himself when he does his tricks and occassionally will even clap for himself with a big grin.  He still just babbles- "dada", "mama", "baba."
  • He has two teeth and I keep looking for the next ones- maybe by 10 months!

Our ER Trip

Friday morning Tommy was helping Henry reach for a toy and accidentally pulled on his left arm too hard.  After listening to Henry scream and cry for almost an hour and noticing that he wasn't using his left arm at all I decided to bring him in to the ER.  Thankfully my sister was able to watch Tommy and my mom was able to help me at the hospital.  They quickly diagnosed it as nursemaid's elbow and were able to manuver it back into place.  Henry screamed while they fixed it, but within seconds was laughing and doing all of his tricks- clapping, waving, and "so big."  He kept looking at his hand as if he couldn't figure out why it didn't work earlier.  It was hard to see him hurting so badly and difficult to help Tommy understand that I knew it was an accident, but somehow we all survived the day and aren't too much worse for the wear :)  Hopefully we won't have anymore trips to the ER in the near future!

Ball Popper Fun

For Christmas, Henry received a ball popper toy that we put away until he was a little older.  We pulled it out the other day and both boys had a blast with it.  The advantage of the second child is that you have someone else to sit there and push the on button over and over and over and over :)

I laughed because Tommy always LOVED this toy at other people's houses when he was little.  He still is enamored with this toy and played with it for much longer than Henry did!

Henry kept squealing with excitment!

End of School Year Bowling Party

Tommy's last day of preschool was a bowling party with all of his friends.  He was apprehensive before we arrived, but once he had the hang of it he had a blast.  He was a hit with all of the girls because he decided it was his job to hand all of them their balls since they were scared of the ball return machine.  It was such a fun way to say goodbye to all of his friends!

They had these dinosaur ramps that they pushed the balls down.  Tommy spent a long time positioning his dinosaur just so before each turn to try and get the best angle.

Ready to bowl!

Cheese!

The party ended with pizza and cotton candy.  He had a great time and keeps asking when we can go back!
