Trouble!

Henry is getting into EVERYTHING lately.  It's a full time job just to keep up with him.  As Tommy told me the other day, "It sure is alot of work to have a baby!"  Here's a small sampling of what he's been into this week.

Henry managed to unroll an entire roll of toilet paper in about 3.5 seconds.  He was laughing the entire time.

Fleeing the scene!

One morning we found that Henry had been busy in his crib- he managed to take his pants off all by himself!

Tommy found this hilarious!

He also enjoys knocking over the toy basket in his room!

It's pretty hard to stay mad at this adorable face though!

Ten Months Old!!

Henry Christopher- 10 Months Old

Wow!!  What a month!  Henry has grown and developed in leaps and bounds in the past month.  It's amazing to think of where he was a short month ago and then look at what he is doing now.  He is crawling all over the place, getting into everything, pulling up to standing, and BUSY!  It's so fun to watch him explore and grow.  He is so proud of himself and all that he can do.  He loves to make a quick move to any electrical cords, outlets, and any of Tommy's things.  He is such a fun little boy with some definite opinions that he isn't afraid to share.  Daddy and Tommy are still his favorite people in the entire world.  He seems to enjoy church nursery and never cries when we drop him off.  He isn't a giggle box- he tends to be more serious, but it makes those laughs all the more rewarding when they happen.  It's hard to imagine it's only 2 more months until we celebrate his first birthday!

Henry's unofficial weight at 10 months is 22 1/2 lbs.

What is Henry up to at 10 months?
  • He sleeps from 7pm- 7:30 or 8am every night.  Once in awhile we hear him talking in the middle of the night, but he is a good sleeper and sleeps all night!
  • He drinks about 32oz of formula a day and eats 3 meals of baby food a day.  Each meal is usually 2 jars of baby food or 1 jar with a bowl of cereal.
  • He is eating stage 3 baby foods and starting to feed himself.  He loves to feed himself cereal bars, crackers, cheese, cut up grapes, puffs, and bread.
  • He usually naps from 9:30-11am and then again from 1:30-4pm.
  • He is in size 3 or 4 diapers and size 12-18 months clothes.
  • He sits, crawls (mostly an army crawl on his belly, but he is fast!), and can pull up to standing.
  • He claps, waves, does "so big", and high 5's.  He babbles and seems to use da-da and ma-ma to name us, but it may just be wishful thinking as well :)
  • He's up to 4 teeth- 2 on top and 2 on bottom.  The top 2 appear to be as far apart as big brother's!

The Celebration Continues...

The best part about the 4th this year was that Nathan had Monday, the 5th, off.  We were able to take a day and just re-group and enjoy our little family of 4.  Henry started out the morning with a bang- he pulled up to standing for the first time!

He was so pround of himself!

Hot stuff!

Somehow, over the course of the weekend, Nathan promised Tommy a fish tank.  Tommy was so excited- it was adorable.  Nathan and Tommy spent the day getting the fish tank all set up and they also were able to go watch Toy Story 3 in the movie theater.

Explaining the rules and how everything works.

Putting the fish in.

Pure excitement!

Fourth of July

I love the 4th of July- it's just such a great summer holiday.  It's so much more fun with kids and this year we had an amazing weekend.  On Saturday some friends invited us out to their adorable cottage on an island in Gun Lake for the day.  My parents offered to watch Henry so that Nathan, Tommy, and I were able to fully enjoy our day.  We swam, took a boat ride, fished, grilled hot dogs, had a campfire and s'mores, and ended the day with fireworks.  It was a perfect day with friends.  We loved it!

Tommy and Joseph with their fish.  Tommy was SO excited to fish and absolutely thrilled with his catch!  Between the 2 of them (with some help from their dads) they caught about 12 bluegill.

Another one

Here's the bait :)

This may be one of my favorite pictures ever.  Such a boy!

The boys busy fishing

Joseph and Tommy

Not a very good picture, but the only one I got of all three kids.  Molly, Tommy, and Joseph (the fish are in the bucket!)

On Sunday we had Nathan's sister, Julie, and her family over for a pool party in the afternoon.  It was a HOT day- perfect for swimming.  Here's Henry on his first 4th of July!

Tommy and his cousin Bridgette swimming in the pool.

The boys in their matching suits.  Unfortunately, this is the best picture I got of the two of them...

A fun afternoon- the results of which were drying on the fence :)  It's a common sight here in the summer!

Sunday evening we headed to my parents' for a barbeque and pool party.  Henry, Aunt Kristina, Aunt Sarah, and Tommy enjoying the water!

There are three great-grandchildren on the DeVries side; Tommy (4 years), Henry (9 months), and Ella (5 months).  As the oldest (and the only person in attendance who truly cares), Tommy is responsible for bringing the fireworks.  He takes his job VERY seriously.  Here are the fireworks all lined up in the order they are to be set off.

Waiting rather impatiently for the fireworks.

Tommy would step forward to hand the next firework to Papa and then run as fast as he could to jump in Great Grandma's lap to watch.  He kept reminding everyone to "be calm" during the fireworks :)

Eating cotton candy with his festive necklaces

Once it was dark, Tommy, Aunt Kristina, Papa, Mommy, Aunt Sarah, and Uncle Trevor walked down to Whites Lake to watch the fireworks.  Tommy decided that he should wear all of the glow necklaces and bracelets at once.  We had a wonderful 4th and hope that everyone else did too!

Summer So Far...

We've had a busy and fun summer so far- it's been full of all the things and activities a summer is supposed to hold.  It's hard to believe we're already in July!  As Tommy said the other day, "it's about time to get organized to go to school!"

Here's what we've been doing...

Wagon rides...

Ice Cream

Sleeping in the stroller while mommy runs.

Swimming, swimming, and more swimming.  Both boys seem to be part fish...

And- setting bunny traps in the backyard?  (His mouth is open because he was trying to explain to me what was going to happen when the bunny tried to get the carrots that are inside of the box.)
